PIXIE-BOB
The Pixie-Bob is muscular cat with large body and heavy bone structure. Their fur features a double coat that can range from a woolly short "stand out" coat to slightly longer medium length silky coat. Their feet are big and powerful. Facial appearance is especially reminiscent of the Bobcat. These cats also have a naturally bobbed tail, usually between two and six inches. Males range in weight between 12 to 26 pounds, females are usually smaller. Most Pixie-Bobs have black fur and skin on the bottom of their paws, tipped ears, heavy ear hair, black lips, and white fur around the eyes but with black eye skin. Their chins have white fur, but often have black skin under the white fur. Eyes are almond shaped and tilted, surrounded with mascara lines giving them very wild look. Pixie-bobs are considered to be intelligent, social, active (but not hyper-active), bold and courageous cats. But also very devoted and loyal, almost doglike. They usually don't meow but rather they chirps chatter, or growl.
ORIGIN: According to legend, it is a hybrid offspring of a domestic cat and a bobcat, story is similar to that of American Bobtail, but DNA testing has failed to show that Pixie-Bobs are directly related to Bobcats. But because of their appearance and especially polydactylism (one additional toe on each foot) there could be bobcat in their heritage. The way of acquiring kittens from farmers all around US seem to add to that legend. Lot of farmers has kittens with short tails and more toes but their mother being ordinary domestic shorthair. Certainly they believe that there have been mating with male bobcat. Naturally after several breeding between such offspring can diminish presence of „wild genes“.
